Man United Flatten Leicester
Ruud van Nistelrooy started strong as Manchester United’s interim manager, overseeing a 5-2 Carabao Cup victory against Leicester on Wednesday, 30 October, advancing United to the quarter-finals.
The 48-year-old Dutch coach was appointed after Erik ten Hag’s sacking on Monday, 28 October, following a string of poor performances from the English side.
United netted five goals during the evening’s exciting display of talent: Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes contributed two apiece, while Alejandro Garnacho pitched in one of his own.
The visitors managed to pull two back on the scoreboard, but it wasn’t enough to stop the hosts’ stampede at Old Trafford.
As United searches for a permanent manager, Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim is a top candidate. Negotiations are reportedly ongoing, with the English club likely paying his €10-million release clause.
Should the deal finalise, Amorim could begin in mid-November, bringing a new tactical approach to the side. This shift may benefit players like Lisandro Martinez and Rasmus Hojlund, potentially revitalising the Red Devils’ season as Amorim seeks to close the gap with Premier League rivals.
